Instructions for Authors and submission
Presentation instructions
The presentations of accepted manuscripts will be done using powerpoint or pdf formats. We will have an MS Windows machine ready to support your presentations in the conference room. The projection format is wide (16:9). If you have videos, as a general guideline, please stick with formats/codecs that are supported in the default MS Windows installation. Each presentation has been allocated 25 minutes, including questions and handover time. The guideline is to use 15 minutes for presentation and 10 for discussion. You must make sure that you load and try your presentation at least during the break (coffee break or lunch) that precedes your talk. The best is always to liaise with your session organisers. Papers to be presented during the first morning sessions must be loaded between 08:30 and 09:00 that day. Please remember that for a paper to be published it needs to be presented by an author with a full registration.
Manuscript instructions
All UComms papers must be written in English, follow the IEEE 2 column format, not exceed 4 pages (plus references) and be submitted electronically in PDF format via the online submission portal. Links to LaTeX and Word templates can be found at the bottom of the page.
Papers submitted to UComms will undergo a strict peer-review process. Manuscripts will be reviewed by three reviewers, who will give detailed comments and — if the submission gets accepted — the authors submit a revised version that takes into account this feedback.
Accepted and presented papers will be made available in the proceedings and submitted for inclusion into IEEE Xplore subject to meeting IEEE Xplore’s scope and quality requirements. Selected papers will be invited for expansion to be submitted for consideration for inclusion in a Special Collection in the IEEE Journal of Oceanic Engineering.
Plagiarism and excessive re-use of earlier material
Content of any submissions should be original and must not be submitted for consideration in any other conferences or journals. Submissions will be checked against (self-)plagiarism using the iThenticate tool provided by IEEE. Possible violations will be reported to IEEE for further investigation."Off-the-record" option for authors
UComms provides authors the option to submit "off-the-record" publications. This is intended for the cases where cutting-edge developments may be subject to sensitivities of a commercial nature (or others). Off-the-record contributions will not be published in the proceedings or IEEEXplore but must still go through the regular submission and review. During the conference, delegates will be asked not to take pictures or any recored element of the presentation.
